O Autorce: Joan Wallach Scott jest historyczką, zajmuje się historia pracy, historią kobiet, historią myśli, specjalizowała sie w historii Francji. Obecnie jest profesorką w Institute of Advance Studies w Princeton. Jej artykuł ‘Gender jako użyteczna kategoria historycznej analizy’ stał się punktem zwrotnym i nadal wywiera wpływ na badania nad historią kobiet i analizy genderowe w innych dyscyplinach naukowych.
